Out of Stock!
by Heather Cousins on 12/15/11
Wow, I can't believe that for the first time I am OUT OF STOCK!!!
It is a very cool feeling! Thanks to Deb at Artswork in LeClaire, IA and Wendy at Sweet Woodruff in Fulton, Ill, I am SOLD OUT! They, however, are not! So stop by and visit their stores. They both offer many unique items besides mine.
At Artswork I got an adorable knit hooded sweater in bright green for my niece, and at Sweet Woodruff I got a purse to replace the wristlet I Love but had for at least 3 years now and it is showing some wear. Both priced really well and a good value.
But, if you are bummed that I have no product available on my site, just be patient little Diva, I will be working on my Spring Line very soon. What will it be like? Think Vintage and Romance, think butterflies, flowers, and birds. Oh and I have got some cute stuff coming out for the kiddies too!
Till next time, Spoil yourself today!
Hugs,
Heather
My New SteamPunk Collection Now Sold at Artswork in LeClaire, IA!!!
by Heather Cousins on 12/02/11
Ok Divas,
I have been SUPER BUSY working on my new line and just finished! It is called SteamPunk and it is sooooooo cool!
What is SteamPunk?? Hmm...how do you describe it? Well, my interpretation of it is a combination of romance and science fiction. Of Victorian and Industrial elements. Think Mad Max meets the Titanic, of an old Zepplin paired with a Chandelier. It is using unexpected materials in unique ways to get a really cool effect.
Starting to get the idea? I have been interested in mixed media art for quite a while now, and in experimenting with it, found steampunk. I was waiting for the right time to begin making jewelry out of these elements, in other words, waiting for things around the home to calm down for a beat and finishing older projects that have been on my to do list for months! With fall setting in and my daughter back in school, now was the right time. And boy is it EVER! I was walking around a store that has little nick nacks and small furnishings for the home and found Steampunk elements in the decor! So if you love it, watch for it...it is the new thing!
I have used new and old elements in my pieces, like, old clock and watch parts, and old buttons. Also I have hand patina'ed many of the parts to make them even more unique. Soldered many of them together but there is still alot of movement in the pieces. Then I paired them with beautiful sparkling Crystals and Czech Glass. And remember each piece is a one of a kind, I have not duplicated any of the designs so yours will be truely unique. Deb at Artswork in LeClaire loved the SteamPunk collection and has it exclusively in her store. So head on over and check it out!
On the downside, I have been so busy working on this collection that I am burnt out! And don't even want to LOOK at another bead... for a while anyway. Hehe.
Meanwhile, today I am going to make a wonderful Orange Cranberry Turkey Breast for my family and have a nice cozy dinner with them!! Want the recipe? Sure,
1 Boneless Skinless Turkey Breast (about 2 1/2 lbs)
2 t each of fresh chopped parsley, rosemary, thyme, and sage
1/2 t salt
1/4 t black pepper
1 T olive oil
up to 1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 c fresh orange juice
1/2 c fresh or frozen cranberries
2 t honey
Preheat oven to 350'
Place turkey on a work surface skin side down.
Butterfly the breast: Start at middle of breast and cut deep into thickest part, cut toward outer edge but NOT all the way through. open like book. Repeat on other side. Cover w/ wax paper and pound evenly.
In small bowl, combine herbs. Sprinkle over cut surface of meat. Start at a short end and roll into a thick cylinder and tie 3 or 4 places w/ kitchen string. season outside w/ Salt and Pepper.
In large deep pan heat olive oil and and add turkey. cook on all sides till brown, about 10 minutes. Cover tightly and bake about 30 mins. or until 165' in center. Remove turkey and cover w/ foil.
Pour out cooking juices into measuring glass. Add enough chicken stock to make liquid reach 1/2 cup. Return to pot and add OJ, Cranberries and honey. bring to boil. Boil till cranberries pop and sauce is slightly thickened and reduced to 2/3 cup, or about 5 mins. Thinly slice turkey and and pour sauce over each on it's plate. Makes about 8 servings.
Serve with sweet potatoes mashed with coconut milk and a pinch of nutmeg.
What are you going to do? Whatever it is, Please remember to Spoil yourself today!
Hugs,
Heather
My New Site
by Heather Cousins on 11/18/11
So Divas,
Do you like my newest site? I am still working out the kinks so bear with me. I FINALLY got my hubby to take a half day and finish it up for me. Poor guy is SOOO busy! We are taking some much needed R&R coming up very soon...so he will actually get a break.....unless some clown messes something up and calls him. UGH! I HATE that!
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, the site. So obviously the first thing you'll notice is the color and layout. Super hip! The next thing is a CATALOG!!!!! YIPPEE!! Before I had limited space and was using the site just for people to get an idea of what I offered. But now I have a full fledged store!! Not only do I still accept PayPal, but I also accept, GASP! Should I say it? Yep...you know it... Credit Cards!!!! Let the squealing begin!!!
My hubby also put in a link to another catalog which is kinda redundant, but the pics look different, so you can get a better idea of what my pieces look like. It just takes a few seconds to load.
Obviously you'll notice the blog here is better too. I have more space and it keeps track of past entries.
There are so many new things I can do with this site and I will be adding things regularly so keep checking back, and remember to Spoil your inner Diva today!
Hugs,
Heather
